Valentine’s Day is definitely one of those Marmite days, you know the ones that some people love and embrace, and everyone else absolutely hates. It’s not something I ever celebrate, but there are certain things about the occasion that I do like to embrace. Loads of lush novelty chocolate in the shops? Yes please. Cute new pieces of homeware and girly pyjamas? Let me at ’em.
New Look have some great pieces in their Valentine’s range, including some very blogger-friendly copper homeware items and LED light-up pieces to prettify your abode, amongst plenty of lovely dresses and accessories to wear out on February 14th itself if you’ve got a spicy date planned. Very conveniently, they’ve even put everything Valentine’s-themed into its own little section on the website, making it much easier for you to find everything nice and quickly.
If you read my recent post about My Favourite Valentine’s Day, you’ll be aware that over-the-top Valentine’s celebrations and doing the soppy thing totally aren’t me. So my February 14th will involve snuggling up under my brand new, incredibly soft Primarni blanket, wearing these New Look heart-print pyjamas, lighting my Parma Violent-scented candle (YES!), and gorging on chocolates in front of a rom-com. As a vertically-challenged girl (I feel I should say ‘lady’ now that I’m past my mid-twenties, but that just seems so old), pyjama bottoms often drag along the floor as they’re far too long. Fortunately these ones have elasticated ankles, and the simplicity of that design detail makes me very happy.
One very exciting thing that is happening for me a few days before Valentine’s day, is my university graduation. This will be degree number two so I am nowhere near as excited as first time round, but as I have fixed braces at the moment I am determined to have an awesome outfit to distract from my metal-mouth smile. I picked out this cream, fringed shift dress from New Look, which I intend to pair with a nice pair of coloured heels (I’m picturing something bright and bold, like turquoise), and some matching chunky accessories. The dress itself is such a nice fit, and once I’ve used it for my graduation I imagine I’ll get a lot of wear out of it for smart work days.
As I have shared many times on here, I have a complete obsession with Pandora rings. I struggle to walk past the shop without popping in ‘just for a look’ and walking out with another little white box in a perfectly tied bag – the shop now being five minutes walk from my office is not helpful. For my birthday in December I was given one of the Pandora bangle bracelets, which I plan to fill with charms bit by bit. On my recent weekend with Ali I decided to pick up another bangle, and I love how simple and classy the two look together, so I shall also be wearing these with my graduation outfit.
How do you celebrate Valentine’s Day? Do you have your outfit ready?
